  • 01:40 – Departed West Mersea mooring for Ramsgate marina
    • Skipper – Richard

  • Picked through West Mersea moorings in pitch dark, with strong following tide.
  • 7.5+kts East towards the Spitway, with brightly lit wind farms marking critical points.
  • 03:30 – Passed through Spitway, with buoys well lit.
  • 04:45 – Crossed Sunk Sand
  • 05:25 Crossed Black Deep to enter Foulger’s Gat
  • Difficulty seeing light on Sunk Sand Middle, until alongside it.
  • Strong tide making bumpy conditions in and from Foulger’s Gat
  • Skipper slightly incapacitated in pre-dawn. L took helm, guided by R lying on cockpit bench with handheld GPS
  • Various catamarans ferrying workers out to wind farms around dawn.
  • 09:55 – arrived Ramsgate Royal Harbour marina. De-rigged bowsprit and moored, without incident. Realised that traveller has to slide back out as bowsprit is retracted. Marina almost empty.
  • Caught up on sleep
  • Excellent Italian meal at La Magnolia
  • Finishing engine hours – not recorded
  • Distance travelled – 45nm
  • New faults
    • Cabin VHF not receiving position from cabin chart plotter, resulting in continuous alarm. Use handheld throughout this passage.
