We drive down to the boatyard after lunch. Then it’s just a case of motoring down the Hamble in the sunshine, to moor almost in last year’s berth at the Royal Southern. Many of the normal residents have been moved away to make room for the fleet of 65 classic yachts, ranging from the tiny gaff rigged ‘Gloriana’ to the Swan 65 ‘Desperado’. Almost exactly 1/4 of the entries are gaff rigged, so it’s a good mixed group. We enjoy a welcome drink and a hog roast, then a quick visit to the club bar.

Interestingly ‘Ivy Green’ is running straighter under power. Is that a result of having her bottom cleaned? Maybe the weed doesn’t grow evenly in our berth. Also there’s a problem with the galley fresh water pump, which I can remove, but not repair. We shall rely on the heads pump for fresh water this weekend.

Tomorrow’s forecast is looking breezy!
