  • 08:30 – Departed Brighton marina for Cowes, after false start at 06:30 due to lack of water in marina
    • Skipper – Richard

    • Weather S3, clear
  • Sails up! Reached with reefed main, no.1 jib and staysail for 6hrs in autumnal sunshine. Greatly improved speed and motion, compared to motoring.
  • 13:30 – Through Looe channel at over 9kts
  • 14:00 – Shook out reef
  • 14:40 – Motor sailed in calm S conditions to makes Cowes by sunset
  • Dropped bowsprit after pin had shaken loose. Check from now on!
  • Met minesweeper and T.S. Royalist under full sail
  • Entered Cowes through the Small Craft Channel. Work continuing on new breakwater
  • 16:47 – Arrived Cowes Yacht Haven (sunset 16:48)
  • Supper at The Anchor Inn
  • Finishing engine hrs 466.4
  • Distance travelled 49nm
  • New faults
    • Radar reflector disintegrated. Line and remaining parts recovered from gaff, with boat hook
    • Inspect bowsprit and fittings after pin fell out
